Who we are

Environment, Conservation and Outdoor Education Trust (ECOED) was established in 2002 to halt the decline of North Island brown kiwi in the Kaweka Forest Park.

The long-term objectives of the trust are to

•Maintain and enhance our local kiwi population currently approximately 1000 to 2000

•Use kiwi to promote environmental and outdoor education

ECOED also is in partnership with with iwi, DOC, and general public, in particular with schools, through kiwi discovery talks and providing opportunities to see a kiwi chick during our routine kiwi chick health checks at the Kiwi Creche.
